Hi, back again. I was reading the newspapers a few days ago and i came across a remark made by the Indonesian minister when asked about the haze situation.
He said something like... its up to the regional government to do its job. The central govt can only help... WTH? This seems to be like a blatant push of responsibility to the $$less regional govt. :(
What arrogance and laziness!! Cant stand it.
Oh oh. Wait!! I found it.
"Mr M.S. Kaban had said on Thursday that the central government would intervene in the slash-and-burn activities only if neighbouring countries protested, and flights were disrupted. He said that the issue had been domestically exaggerated, and that it was not domestic affairs which were important, but Indonesia's 'international image'."
Oh. And u thought that i was gonna just stop ranting? NO.
I dug out some archives and found this.
Back in 2006, there was more arrogance. BY THE SAME MINSTER??!!!
"SINGAPOREANS and Malaysians who complain about the haze caused by fires in Indonesia should be fair, said Indonesia's Forestry Minister.They ought to reflect on how they have never thanked their neighbour for the oxygen produced by its forests, he said.
Describing the complaints as 'natural', Mr M.S. Kaban was quoted in Tuesday's evening daily Sinar Harapan as saying: 'Our forests produce oxygen which makes the air cool for them, but they have never been grateful.
'Now that there is haze, they complain. There should be a balance.'
It was not the first such sentiment expressed by an Indonesian politician.
In July, South Sumatra's regional paper Sriwijaya Post reported a legislator making identical remarks during a working visit to the region responsible for a large number of hot spots.Commenting on pressure on Indonesia to ratify a regional anti-haze agreement, Mr Nazarudin Kiemas had said that the world owed Indonesia for the oxygen the country produces. "
I cant believe this... I never knew that such arrogance could get u a govt job?? LOL.
Anyway. I am pretty thankful for Indonesia's governance lah. REALLY.
Cos they have so laid back attitude, Singapore can prosper with no problems. Afterall, laziness is part and parcel of everyday life isnt it?
OH. Before i end.

By ther way, the picture u see above is from my room, of the haze. It didnt look too bad when i took the photo, but it has gotten worse now. :(
Oh well. Not like i can do anything.
